A fortress sunk in the rock - is a showcase of 14th century castles built during the reign of Casimir III the Great. Built on top of the highest hill, it blends in perfectly with the rocky town of Podzamcze. It is the most impressive Eagle's Nest in the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland. The ruins of this castle are among the largest and most interesting objects in Poland.

Mount Zborow is the most interesting part of the Kroczyckie Rocks, protected as a nature reserve. The mountain resembles a labyrinth composed of rock blocks, spires and walls. The rocks are shaped like fairy tale characters, people and animals. They also have distinctive names, such as: Camel, Owl, Miller and Miller's Woman, Cocks, Woman, Wall of the Outlaws, Sadek or Sedes.

Okiennik Wielki (also called Okiennik Duzy or Okiennik Skarzycki) is one of the most beautiful, most popular and most interesting rock formations of the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland. Its characteristic feature is a large window (depth – 7 m; diameter – 5 m), located in the rock wall. Okiennik Wielki is also distinguished by the height of its walls, which exceed 30 m. The rock is undoubtedly the most recognisable symbol of the Upland.

The castle in Olsztyn is one of the most recognisable strongholds in the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland. Already from a distance, the 35 m high tower invites tourists to visit the ruins of the fortress. The construction of the castle is attributed to King Casimir the Great (mid-14th century). However, some historians claim that a walled stronghold had already stood there earlier. The castle was destroyed during the Swedish Deluge in 1655.

The castle in Siewierz originally belonged to the princes of Cieszyn. It then passed into the hands of the bishops of Krakow. In the 17th century, the castle was captured and plundered by the Swedes. The road along the Pradnik valley is rated as one of the most charming in Poland. Pieskowa Skala Castle towers over the Pradnik Valley in the northern part of Ojcow National Park. It is a fortified Renaissance residence with preserved medieval elements and additions from later periods. The castle is called the "pearl of the Polish Renaissance". Inscribed in the Jurassic landscape with the famous Hercules' Mace, it is now the only well-preserved stronghold on the Trail of the Eagle’s Nests and is one of the most important modern residences in Lesser Poland and the whole country. Today, as a museum, it is a branch of the Wawel Royal Castle.

The Lokietek Cave is the largest cave in the Park. It consists of several corridors, two large halls (the Knight's Hall and the Bedroom) and two smaller ones. The cave is connected with the legend of Wladyslaw Lokietek, who took refuge from Bohemian King Wenceslaus II at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The future king of Poland stayed in the cave for about 6 weeks. His life was saved by a spider, covering the opening of the cave with a web. Seeing the fine, silvery netting, knights concluded that no human could have passed that way. The cave is still called the Lokietek Cave, and its entrance is guarded by a gate in the shape of a spider's web.

It is one of the most valuable archaeological sites in Poland. It is a fragment of a former system of underground corridors and chambers with a total length of 209 metres. The interior of the cave is humid, the temperature is about + 7°C all year round. The fauna includes wingless insects, moths and white myriapods, and bats overwinter there. In front of the entrance to the cave, there is a reconstructed Neanderthal camp and a viewing platform with a view of the Pradnik Valley and - rising right next to it - a characteristic limestone rock, called the Glove or the Five-Fingered Rock.

In front of the Pieskowa Skala castle in the Pradnik Valley, in the area of Ojcow National Park, there is a high rock in the shape of a mace. Wider at the top, narrower at the base, it is 25 metres high. The mighty rock, resembling the weapon of the mythical giant, was formed by the destructive activity of wind and frost. Hercules' Mace is the most popular rock formation in Ojcow National Park, and probably in the whole of Poland. It is one of the most important symbols not only of Ojcow, but of the whole Krakow-Czestochowa Upland.

In the magnificent Krakow-Czestochowa Upland, between the villages of Klucze, Chechlo and Bledow, on the border of Lesser Poland and Silesian Voivodships, there is an unusual attraction - the Bledow Desert, which attracts numerous tourists from all over the region. Information: During a trip to the Bledow Desert it is worth visiting viewpoints from which you can admire its beautiful panorama. The first of them is Czubatka Hill in Klucze (382 m above sea level), with the ruins of a German WWII command post and an observation tower of the Olkusz Forest Inspectorate. There are information boards and benches on the hill where you can rest after the hike to the top. The second viewpoint is Dabrowka in Chechlo (355 m).

The historic silver mine forms a labyrinth of mine excavations from the 15th to the 20th century. The tourist route is 1700 m long, of which a 270 m section is covered by boat. The underground route is soundtracked with authentic sounds of hard work of miners, effects of mine collapse, moving carts and blasting works. There is a mining museum in the shaft building and an open-air museum of steam engines next to the building. The undergrounds of the mine have been entered on the List of Monuments of History.

The Black Trout Adit is located a few kilometres from the silver mine. It is a unique 600-metre fragment of the 19th century "Fryderyk" adit, draining the Tarnowskie Gory underground. Tourists cover the route by boats in the light of flickering carbide lamps and it is the longest underground passage in Poland. The adit takes its name from the trout swimming in it, which look black in the dim light. During the tour of the walkway, you can see the side walls with vertical grooves, traces of blasting holes and a "town" of bats. Information: Entries at full time. The Guido Mine is a unique attraction on a European scale. It was founded in 1855 and after mining it served as an experimental mine and a drainage hub. It is the flagship venue of the Industrial Monuments Route, a place of unique events and excellent attractions. Through the railway shaft, tourists descend to levels 170, 320 and the K8 zone. So you can see the deepest coal mine tourist route in Europe and dine in probably the deepest Pub in the World. Information: Year-round access. Tour time: 2.5 - 3 hours; route length: 3.5 km. “The pearl in the crown" - the Nikiszowiec estate in the eastern part of Katowice is a must stop on your journey. The estate owes its name to the mine shaft "Nickischschacht" (today "Poniatowski"), which was built there at the beginning of the 20th century. Nikiszowiec was built between 1908 and 1919, when there was already not enough space for workers in Giszowiec. The designers of the colony were Emil and Georg Zillmann. Here you can feel the extraordinary mining community preserved in the phenomenal buildings of the mining district. The place was the background for many films about Upper Silesia, including "Salt of the Black Earth" by Kazimierz Kutz.

The “Queen Luisa” mine is one of the oldest in Upper Silesia. Visitors to the site have the opportunity to see the shaft and signal communication equipment, the exhibition of cage slings, the shaft workshop, the departmental mine rescue station, as well as the interior of the 6 KV electrical switching station. The main attraction of the Open-air Museum is the only operating steam hoist of its kind in Europe. The underground part - 43 Sienkiewicza Street - is located around the no longer existing "WILHELMINA" shaft. Includes excavations from the early 19th century and contemporary. A fortress sunk in the rock - is a showcase of 14th century castles built during the reign of Casimir III the Great. Mount Zborow is the most interesting part of the Kroczyckie Rocks, protected as a nature reserve. The mountain resembles a labyrinth composed of rock blocks, spires and walls. They also have distinctive names, such as: Camel, Owl, Miller and Miller's Woman, Cocks, Woman, Wall of the Outlaws, Sadek or Sedes.

The castle in Olsztyn is one of the most recognisable strongholds in the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland. Already from a distance, the 35 m high tower invites tourists to visit the ruins of the fortress. The construction of the castle is attributed to King Casimir the Great (mid-14th century). However, some historians claim that a walled stronghold had already stood there earlier. The castle was destroyed during the Swedish Deluge in 1655.

Pieskowa Skala Castle towers over the Pradnik Valley in the northern part of Ojcow National Park. It is a fortified Renaissance residence with preserved medieval elements and additions from later periods. The castle is called the "pearl of the Polish Renaissance". Inscribed in the Jurassic landscape with the famous Hercules' Mace, it is now the only well-preserved stronghold on the Trail of the Eagle’s Nests and is one of the most important modern residences in Lesser Poland and the whole country. Today, as a museum, it is a branch of the Wawel Royal Castle.

The Lokietek Cave is the largest cave in the Park. It consists of several corridors, two large halls (the Knight's Hall and the Bedroom) and two smaller ones. The cave is connected with the legend of Wladyslaw Lokietek, who took refuge from Bohemian King Wenceslaus II at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The future king of Poland stayed in the cave for about 6 weeks. His life was saved by a spider, covering the opening of the cave with a web. Seeing the fine, silvery netting, knights concluded that no human could have passed that way. The cave is still called the Lokietek Cave, and its entrance is guarded by a gate in the shape of a spider's web.

It is one of the most valuable archaeological sites in Poland. It is a fragment of a former system of underground corridors and chambers with a total length of 209 metres. The interior of the cave is humid, the temperature is about + 7°C all year round. The fauna includes wingless insects, moths and white myriapods, and bats overwinter there. In front of the entrance to the cave, there is a reconstructed Neanderthal camp and a viewing platform with a view of the Pradnik Valley and - rising right next to it - a characteristic limestone rock, called the Glove or the Five-Fingered Rock.

Wider at the top, narrower at the base, it is 25 metres high. The mighty rock, resembling the weapon of the mythical giant, was formed by the destructive activity of wind and frost. Hercules' Mace is the most popular rock formation in Ojcow National Park, and probably in the whole of Poland. It is one of the most important symbols not only of Ojcow, but of the whole Krakow-Czestochowa Upland.

Information: During a trip to the Bledow Desert it is worth visiting viewpoints from which you can admire its beautiful panorama. The first of them is Czubatka Hill in Klucze (382 m above sea level), with the ruins of a German WWII command post and an observation tower of the Olkusz Forest Inspectorate. The historic silver mine forms a labyrinth of mine excavations from the 15th to the 20th century. The tourist route is 1700 m long, of which a 270 m section is covered by boat. The Black Trout Adit is located a few kilometres from the silver mine. It is a unique 600-metre fragment of the 19th century "Fryderyk" adit, draining the Tarnowskie Gory underground. Tourists cover the route by boats in the light of flickering carbide lamps and it is the longest underground passage in Poland. The adit takes its name from the trout swimming in it, which look black in the dim light. During the tour of the walkway, you can see the side walls with vertical grooves, traces of blasting holes and a "town" of bats. Information: Entries at full time. The Guido Mine is a unique attraction on a European scale. It was founded in 1855 and after mining it served as an experimental mine and a drainage hub. It is the flagship venue of the Industrial Monuments Route, a place of unique events and excellent attractions. Through the railway shaft, tourists descend to levels 170, 320 and the K8 zone. So you can see the deepest coal mine tourist route in Europe and dine in probably the deepest Pub in the World. Information: Year-round access. Tour time: 2.5 - 3 hours; route length: 3.5 km. “The pearl in the crown" - the Nikiszowiec estate in the eastern part of Katowice is a must stop on your journey. The estate owes its name to the mine shaft "Nickischschacht" (today "Poniatowski"), which was built there at the beginning of the 20th century. Nikiszowiec was built between 1908 and 1919, when there was already not enough space for workers in Giszowiec. The designers of the colony were Emil and Georg Zillmann. Here you can feel the extraordinary mining community preserved in the phenomenal buildings of the mining district. The place was the background for many films about Upper Silesia, including "Salt of the Black Earth" by Kazimierz Kutz.

The “Queen Luisa” mine is one of the oldest in Upper Silesia. Places particularly recommended to visit are: The Wawel Royal Castle, situated on the bank of the Vistula River, is the former seat of our rulers and the final resting place of many of them. The Old Town Square which is surrounded by historic houses. In the centre of the square is the famous Adam Mickiewicz monument. The museum is a votive offering to the Queen of Poland in thanksgiving for the health, after a stroke, of the head of President Electronics Poland- Krzysztof Witkowski. The Museum is also a tribute to John Paul II - the Pope who came to Jasna Góra many times. The coins and medals on display in the museum bear the image of a native Pope.

The Museum of Old Crafts is a unique museum located in Zarki in the building of a historic electric mill. The place is beautifully restored and delights at every turn, so it's a great option for family time and whatever the season. The facility is a kind of technical park. By visiting the rooms and exhibits, you can travel back in time and learn about the history of the five basic crafts in Zarki, i.e. milling, baking, shoemaking, cooperage and wheelwrighting. Sweet workshops for children of all ages. In the Hokus Pokuss manufactory, children can see for themselves how sweets and lollipops are made, and then they can make their own sweet gift. While the children take part in the workshops, the adults can enjoy a cup of coffee in the café. You can also buy handmade lollipops and sweets on site.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lesniow Patroness of Families is located on the outskirts of Zarki. It belongs to the Pauline monastery complex which includes the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the monastery, the bell tower, the pilgrim's house and the Chapel of Our Lady of the Angels.

In the magnificent Krakow-Czestochowa Upland, between the villages of Klucze, Chechlo and Bledow, on the border of Lesser Poland and Silesian Voivodships, there is an unusual attraction - the Bledow Desert, which attracts numerous tourists from all over the region. Information: During a trip to the Bledow Desert it is worth visiting viewpoints from which you can admire its beautiful panorama. The first of them is Czubatka Hill in Klucze (382 m above sea level), with the ruins of a German WWII command post and an observation tower of the Olkusz Forest Inspectorate. There are information boards and benches on the hill where you can rest after the hike to the top. The second viewpoint is Dabrowka in Chechlo (355 m).

The historic silver mine forms a labyrinth of mine excavations from the 15th to the 20th century. The tourist route is 1700 m long, of which a 270 m section is covered by boat. The underground route is soundtracked with authentic sounds of hard work of miners, effects of mine collapse, moving carts and blasting works. There is a mining museum in the shaft building and an open-air museum of steam engines next to the building. The undergrounds of the mine have been entered on the List of Monuments of History.

The Black Trout Adit is located a few kilometres from the silver mine. It is a unique 600-metre fragment of the 19th century "Fryderyk" adit, draining the Tarnowskie Gory underground. Tourists cover the route by boats in the light of flickering carbide lamps and it is the longest underground passage in Poland. The adit takes its name from the trout swimming in it, which look black in the dim light. During the tour of the walkway, you can see the side walls with vertical grooves, traces of blasting holes and a "town" of bats. Information: Entries at full time. The Guido Mine is a unique attraction on a European scale. It was founded in 1855 and after mining it served as an experimental mine and a drainage hub. It is the flagship venue of the Industrial Monuments Route, a place of unique events and excellent attractions. Through the railway shaft, tourists descend to levels 170, 320 and the K8 zone. So you can see the deepest coal mine tourist route in Europe and dine in probably the deepest Pub in the World. Information: Year-round access. Tour time: 2.5 - 3 hours; route length: 3.5 km. The Guido Mine is not open on selected holidays and Mondays. Booking is essential. Entry to the individual zones is age-dependent/age limit: at least 6 years old!

“The pearl in the crown" - the Nikiszowiec estate in the eastern part of Katowice is a must stop on your journey. The estate owes its name to the mine shaft "Nickischschacht" (today "Poniatowski"), which was built there at the beginning of the 20th century. Nikiszowiec was built between 1908 and 1919, when there was already not enough space for workers in Giszowiec. The designers of the colony were Emil and Georg Zillmann. Here you can feel the extraordinary mining community preserved in the phenomenal buildings of the mining district. The place was the background for many films about Upper Silesia, including "Salt of the Black Earth" by Kazimierz Kutz.

The “Queen Luisa” mine is one of the oldest in Upper Silesia. Visitors to the site have the opportunity to see the shaft and signal communication equipment, the exhibition of cage slings, the shaft workshop, the departmental mine rescue station, as well as the interior of the 6 KV electrical switching station. The main attraction of the Open-air Museum is the only operating steam hoist of its kind in Europe. The underground part - 43 Sienkiewicza Street - is located around the no longer existing "WILHELMINA" shaft. Includes excavations from the early 19th century and contemporary. Tourists descend to a depth of 35m and traverse underground passages with a total length of 1560m.
